Wellington – Xiamen Association Sister Cities since 1987
Established in 1998, the Wellington Xiamen Association was founded to foster and enhance the sister city relationship between Wellington and Xiamen. Over the years, the Association has played a key role in cultivating a dynamic and enriching connection between the two cities, focusing on cultural and educational exchanges, collaborations, and trade partnerships.
Our dedicated committee consists of 15 passionate individuals, each with unique ties and interests in Xiamen.

With its subtropical climate, Xiamen enjoys mild winters and warm summers, making it an ideal year-round destination for travelers.
Renowned for its fresh seafood and some of the finest tea in China, Xiamen is also one of the birthplaces of Gongfu tea. The city’s deep-rooted tea culture is celebrated through the time-honored tea ceremony, offering visitors a truly immersive experience.
Top attractions include Gulangyu Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its colonial architecture and serene landscapes; Zhongshan Road Walking Street, a bustling area for shopping and local delicacies; Nanputuo Temple, an ancient Buddhist temple; and Hulishan Fortress, a historic military site.
Xiamen seamlessly blends the charm of its cultural heritage with the pulse of modern life, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking both adventure and relaxation.
